Description

M13 Hercules Globular Cluster, consists of several hundred thousand stars in the constellation of Hercules. 22,200 light years away, and 145 across. Magnitude +5.8.

Imaged over June 6, 8, 10, 12, 13.

RGB 150 x 120"

Lum 60 x 30"

This was a very difficult target. After two nights of SGP automated data collection, I realized that the auto-focus was not working due to the bright cluster. Had to throw out all of this and start over. I had to run the focusing routine on a nearby starfield out of view of M13 or other bright stars, then re-center on M13 and run the sequence for each filter. So the 5.5 hours' integration required something like 12 hours' imaging.
